What Is a Credit Union?

Credit Unions are not-for-profit organizations that exist to serve their members. Similar to banks, credit unions accept deposits, make loans, and provide various other financial services. But unlike traditional banks that are usually stockholder-owned, credit unions are member-owned, seek to be heavily involved in their community, and provide a cooperative-style institution for members to save and borrow at reasonable rates.
