CHROME Federal Credit Union is awarded the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award
CHROME Federal Credit has been recognized by CrossState Credit Union Association as the honoree of the 2022 Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award, named for a pioneer in the credit union movement¹. As the Pennsylvania & New Jersey state-level recipient, CHROME will represent both states (in the $50-250 Million asset category) in the national contest hosted by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), the premier trade association representing over 95% of the 5,200 credit unions nationwide, later this year. The award honors credit unions excelling in community relationships and external activities that serve the community.
The Dora Maxwell Award recognizes a credit union exhibiting exceptional programs and volunteering within their community. CHROME is being recognized with this award for multiple programs such as a microloan program set up with BluePrints and CHROME 24 day lunches, which included supporting locally-owned restaurants every month during the pandemic as well volunteer time from employees that in total logged hundreds of hours with local non-profit organizations like Salvation Army.
“CHROME has been with us whether it is raining, hot, cold, hailing or the snow is falling, to fight for good in our community. They have cared about their neighbors in need, handing out produce, packing backpacks, and just being there to show the community they care.”
-Captain Amber Imbhoff, Washington Salvation Army
The award is as much an honor for CHROME as it is for our community partners like Salvation Army, BluePrints, Christopher’s Kitchen, Vitalant, Neighbors 4 Neighbors, Crisis Center North, and others. Our partnership with these community organizations fuel CHROME’s ability to provide financial services and support, in the form of food assistance, blood drives, and financial education, while providing our member-owners with a financial partner that will work with them in good times and bad.
This recognition would not be possible without the commitment of CHROME’s employees and volunteers. In 2021, there was 100% volunteer involvement with an average of 11 hours per employee.
Bob Flanyak, President & CEO of CHROME Federal Credit Union and Bob Greek, Board Chair, attended the CrossState Reconnect Annual Convention May 22-24, 2022, to accept the award on behalf of the credit union.
“The values we live by and the actions we take, are what make this credit union special. We are not driven by profit, but by service to our member-owners and the communities we live and work in.”
-Bob Flanyak, CHROME Federal Credit Union
